Symphony for a Broken Orchestra: Discussion with David Lang

6 Feb 2017
6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Temple Contemporary, Tyler School of Art, 2001 North 13th Street, Philadelphia

Temple Contemporary presents a talk by Pulitzer Prize- and Grammy Award-winning composer David Lang, in conjunction with the Center-funded project Symphony for a Broken Orchestra. Temple Contemporary has commissioned Lang to create a new composition to be performed on 1,000 broken instruments gathered from Philadelphia public schools. During his talk, Lang will offer insights into his artistic practice and his plans for working with a 600-member orchestra comprised of Philadelphia school students and teachers, as well as professional musicians, in preparation for the project’s culminating concert in October 2017.
