Ai Weiwei: Dropping the Urn

Ai Weiwei: Dropping the Urn will be a solo exhibition of ceramic works by internationally acclaimed Chinese artist Ai Weiwei, featuring his iconoclastic use of Neolithic vessels, blue-and white Qing and Yuan dynasty replicas, and a new work consisting of a ton of “sunflower seeds” crafted from porcelain. Scheduled to coincide with the spring 2010 conference of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) in Philadelphia, the show will contribute a critical polemic to the discourse about clay in the region.
