The Graphic Unconscious
2009 Exhibition Grant
$200,000
The Graphic Unconscious, an exhibition that aims to make the city of Philadelphia the world hub for all things print, contends that printmaking is at the core of contemporary artistic production. It is sited in five main venues—Moore College of Art & Design, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Temple Gallery, and The Print Center—and focuses on artistic practices that engage the visual, intellectual, and creative frontiers in printmaking and how these approaches relate to social and political issues in the public sphere.
