Advanced Performance Training Evaluation

Pig Iron Theatre Company

2013
$30,000

As Pig Iron Theatre Company prepared to graduate the first class of its School for Advanced Performance Training (APT), its artistic leadership developed evaluation methods and procedures to assess the school's effectiveness in preparing alumni for professional careers. Beyond their performance studies, APT students learn how to develop audiences and how to market and finance their work. A long-term, substantive evaluation process allows Pig Iron to determine successes in this area, to establish ongoing relationships with alumni, and to enhance industry responses to APT-trained performers. Surveys and feedback have been integrated into the APT program and Pig Iron implemented changes based on these results, such as increased studio access and longer classes.[footnote Management grants, through the Philadelphia Cultural Management Initiative, were awarded through 2013 following which a new funding category, Advancement grants, was introduced to support substantial long-term organizational development.
