Researched and developed over the course of the grant period, Flatland 2010 became Poe's company's (idiosynCrazy productions) first evening-length work. Made in collaboration with 11 dancers, Poe satirically addressed the flatness of human communication in contemporary America, "where the sound byte supersedes substance, and the instant message overpowers the intellectual one." Poe offered two showings of the work-in-progress, which utilized structured audience feedback, led by the dancers after the performance, as a means of audience engagement and as a tool for artistic refinement of the work.
