Philadelphia Mural Arts Program sought to diversify its programmatic work and broaden its horizons, while still maintaining its traditional work of community-based mural-making. With Center support, Mural Arts created a new position, solely charged with leading strategic initiatives and forging new organizational partnerships: a director of strategic planning and partnerships. This position greatly helped to expand the organization's role as a resource-rich institution, elevating its role in the broader arenas in which it works and improving the quality of Mural Arts programming and general planning capacity. As a result, Mural Arts has become a far more prominent presenter of contemporary art works, initiating a new curatorial residency project in recent years, also funded by the Center, and greatly expanding its community outreach programs. 1
