The Kimmel Center, Inc., best known as a presenting organization and home of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Opera Philadelphia, and the Pennsylvania Ballet, is one of the most well-attended cultural venues in Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia Chinese Opera Society (PCOS) is the only organization in the Philadelphia region devoted to the study, teaching, and performance of Beijing opera.

Janet Wong became rehearsal director of the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company in 1996 and associate artistic director in 2006.

The Eleone Dance Theatre acquired Dianne McIntyre’s Up the Road A-Piece and incorporated it into the company’s 2011–12 touring season.

Pew Fellow Nami Yamamoto’s cut-paper installations reflect the hundreds of natural and man-made objects she consistently collects, serving as visual resources and inspirations for her practice.

Five Pew Fellows have been awarded artist residencies in 2015, supported by the Center’s ongoing partnership with the Alliance of Artists Communities.

In the first iteration of the Center’s danceworkbook series, Philadelphia’s Headlong Dance Theater examines artistic process in collaboration with choreographer Tere O’Connor.

Questions of Practice

Poet and 2011 Pew Fellow CAConrad is well known for poetry collections such as A Beautiful Marsupial Afternoon and The Book of Frank. His latest book is ECODEVIANCE: (Soma)tics for the Future Wilderness.

This Spanish-language, ensemble-devised performance piece will examine American privilege and the complexities of cultural identity, informed by Torra’s personal experience as a Cuban American.
