Next Generation Project
2010 Grantee
$75,000
The Philadelphia Chamber Music Society was awarded $75,000 for the Next Generation Project, a series of concerts intended to forge connections between the world’s pre-eminent chamber musicians and the next generation of classical music audiences. The series will premiere thirteen works, performed by the ensembles and artists that inspired each: The Takács, Emerson, Juilliard, St. Lawrence, Daedalus, and Belcea quartets; violinist Elizabeth Pitcairn; flutists Jeffrey Khaner and Marina Piccinini; pianist Jonathan Biss; and the New York Wind Quintet. Works by Ingrid Arauco, Curt Cacioppo, David Finko, Jan Krzywicki, and Adam Wernick will receive world premieres. Audiences will also hear the Philadelphia premieres of works by Elliott Carter, Lawrence Dillon, Osvaldo Golijov, Daniel Kellogg, David Ludwig, Donald Martino, Bernard Rands, Mark-Anthony Turnage, and Richard Wernick. Piccinini, Biss, and the The Emerson, St. Lawrence, and Daedalus quartets will conduct master classes at Temple University and the Curtis Institute of Music.
