Johann Friedrich Fasch Premieres
2010 Grantee
$90,000
Tempesta di Mare, Philadelphia Baroque Orchestra, was awarded $90,000 for two seasons of performances and modern-day premieres of mostly unpublished works by German Baroque composer Johann Friedrich Fasch (1688–1758). Tempesta di Mare will work from newly constructed editions by co-artistic directors Richard Stone and Gwyn Roberts. The project will feature Tempesta’s violinist and concertmaster Emlyn Ngai and lutenist Richard Stone as concerto soloists. Performances will form of the basis of two premiere recordings of project repertoire for the British label Chandos.
