$45,000
The American Composers Forum, Philadelphia Chapter, was awarded $45,000 for SoundExchange, a three-day residency with Grammy Award and Pulitzer Prize winning composer Steve Reich. The project will culminate in a performance by the Argento Chamber Ensemble of Reich’s Double Sextet, for which he received the 2009 Pulitzer Prize for Music, and the Philadelphia premiere of Daniel Variations, dedicated to the late journalist Daniel Pearl. The residency will include a workshop, an open rehearsal, private composition lessons for local composers, and a public conversation between Reich and noted music historian Richard Taruskin.
