Arts Marketing/Audience Development Program: Consultations with Cynthia Byram

April 24–26, 2006

PMP continued its Arts Marketing and Audience Development Program this April by inviting two experienced music publicists and a direct marketing database expert to conduct up to five days each of meetings with music performers and presenters. From April 24–26, world and folk music publicist Cindy Byram met with 11 groups: Compassionate Heart Productions, Dikoma Aesthetics, the Kimmel Center, Network for New Music, Pennsylvania Performing Arts on Tour (PennPAT), the Philadelphia Classical Symphony, the Philadelphia Folklore Project, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Relâche, Spoken Hand Percussion Orchestra, and SRUTI, the India Music and Dance Society. Arts Marketing/Audience Development Program: Consultations with Don Lucoff

April 10–12, 2006

PMP continued its Arts Marketing and Audience Development Program this April by inviting two experienced music publicists and a direct marketing database expert to conduct up to five days each of meetings with music performers and presenters. From April 10–12, jazz publicist Don Lucoff met with 15 groups: 88 Keys Productions, the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, Ars Nova Workshop, International House Philadelphia, Jazz Journeys Educational Institute, the Kimmel Center, Montgomery County Community College, Musicopia, the Painted Bride Art Center, Peregrine Arts, the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, the Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz and Performing Arts, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Settlement Music School, and Siora. Arts Marketing/Audience Development Program: Consultations with Kate Prescott & Vicki Allpress

October & December 2004; June & July 2005

Arts marketing consultant Kate Prescott and Internet marketing expert Vicki Allpress visited Philadelphia to hold specialized seminars and provide one-on-one guidance in private sessions with representatives from participating organizations. Their seminars and consultancies provided valuable opportunities to assess current print and internet marketing strategies and to explore new means of enhancing one’s public profile. (more)

Arts Marketing/Audience Development Program: Consultations with Aleba Gartner

December 2002 to January 2003

PMP invited New York-based publicist Aleba Gartner to conduct individualized sessions with 29 PMP applicant organizations over six days to help them assess and advance their current marketing and public relations strategies, with the goal of cultivating a public image that will be attractive to new audiences and generate increased interest from the press. Arts Marketing/Audience Development Program: Seminar and Consultations with Deborah Obalil

Seminar at Settlement Music School on December 3, 2001

In a seminar on December 3, 2001, Deborah Obalil of Chicago’s Arts and Business Council discussed how to develop marketing strategies and language that effectively translate an organization’s mission to potential arts consumers in order to attract and retain new audiences. Throughout the week, Ms. Obalil met individually with representatives of 19 recent Philadelphia Music Project applicants and grantees to discuss each organization’s marketing strategies and goals and methods for audience development. Planning & Development Program with Arts Action Research

Initiated August 2001

The Philadelphia Music Project, in collaboration with fellow Pew Charitable Trusts cultural initiatives Dance Advance and the Philadelphia Theatre Initiative, has engaged the Brooklyn-based strategic planning firm Arts Action Research to assist several of its grantee organizations in enhancing their administrative capacity in accordance with their artistic goals.
