The Clay Studio promotes access to the ceramic arts through robust educational programs, artist residencies, and exhibitions. Founded in 1974, the organization offers affordable studio space and equipment rentals in its multi-use space, and has hosted artists from over 30 countries through its guest artist-in-residence program. An institutional member of the International Academy of Ceramics, The Clay Studio has mounted seven major international exhibitions, featuring artists from countries including Israel, China, Canada, and Hungary. Past Center support funded the development of a three-year strategic plan, and a 2017 Discovery grant enables the Studio to develop Making Place Matter, an exhibition plan conceived with South Kensington community members that will open in the organization’s new facility.
