John Dichtl is the president and CEO of the American Association for State and Local History (AASLH). Previously, he served as the executive director of the National Council on Public History, and the deputy director of the Organization of American Historians. Dichtl is active in the National Coalition for History and helped found the History Relevance campaign of the International Federation for Public History. He is a 2004 graduate of the Seminar for Historical Administration, a program that stems from an AASLH partnership with the Indiana Historical Society. Dichtl received his MA and PhD in early American history from Indiana University, and was an adjunct faculty member of the history department at Indiana University from 2006 to 2015. In 2017, he served as an LOI panelist in Exhibitions & Public Interpretation.
