Fairmount Park Art Association’s ‘Museum Without Walls’

Posted by Jordan Shue | November 18, 2011

Last week we were so happy to see one of our grantees, the Fairmount Park Art Association, featured in USA Today Travel as one of the "10 great sculpture gardens across the USA." This was pretty exciting news, especially considering how much competition there is throughout the whole country. We were particularly pleased to note that USA Today made mention of FPAA’s Museum Without Walls project, which received support from the Center’s Heritage Philadelphia Program. Find out what USA Today had to say about FPAA after the jump.

Museum Without Walls Philly Audio Tours

Posted by Mia Breitkopf | July 9, 2010

Next time you’re strolling the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, keep your cell phone at the ready. Fairmount Park Art Association (FPAA) has launched a cell phone audio tour of 51 sculptures and works of public art. Each one is spotlighted in a 3-minute story told by people connected to the work in some way: family members, artists, authors, historians, etc.

Signs along the Parkway and Kelly Drive provide phone numbers for listening to the audio tours, and iPhone and iPod Touch users can search “MWW: AUDIO” or “Public Art Philadelphia” to download audio slideshows. Visit the Museum Without Walls™: AUDIO website (museumwithoutwallsaudio.org) to see the audio slideshows online and submit your own sculpture stories and personal photos of Philadelphia’s public artworks.
