Philadelphia Theatre Company presented the Philadelphia premiere of the Tony Award-winning musical Grey Gardens by playwright Doug Wright, with music by Scott Frankel and lyrics by Michael Korie. Based on the 1975 cult documentary of the same title about Edith Ewing Bouvier Beale ("Big Edie") and her daughter ("Little Edie")—two relatives of Jacqueline Kennedy—the musical tracks the Beales' progression from American aristocrats to isolated eccentrics living on their increasingly squalid East Hampton estate.
