Anthony Smyrski and Dan Murphy, the artist duo that constitutes Megawords, worked with four European artists to plan for the creation of a roving media production lab—a truck from which they would conduct interviews, make zines and videos, and document residents in three socio-economically and culturally distinct Philadelphia neighborhoods. "We like to think that the final outcome of the project will be a catalog of Philadelphia," noted Megawords. The planning team—Megawords plus E. B. Itso & Adam of Denmark and Sweden, and Matthias Wermke and Mischa Leinkauf of Berlin—scouted the city and identified the three neighborhoods as well as neighborhood ambassadors to assist them with community relations. When realized, the project will result in two new non-commercial photo-zines. Between 2005 and 2012, Megawords has self-published 14 non-commercial photo-zines, broadcast a weekly Internet radio show, organized multiple events and performances, and exhibited widely.
