TAKES, an exploration of dance and cinema, was presented for the first time as a fully produced and realized work during the 2010 FringeArts Festival. Conceived by Canuso and multimedia director Lars Jan, the audience was free to wander and shift perspective during the show as the action of the performers, separated from the audience by the thin membrane of a giant projection box, unfolded as a melding of live bodies, film projection, and relationships took place. The performance installation was also open to the public as an interactive exhibit.

Led by artistic director, choreographer, and Pew Fellow Nichole Canuso, Nichole Canuso Dance Company (NCDC) presents movement-based, often participatory works that sit at the crossroads of movement, visual art, and theater. The company has toured to such venues as New York's Dance Theater Workshop and Lincoln Center Out of Doors Festival, San Francisco's ODC, and Washington, DC's Dance Place.
